September 9 – 30, 2026

A solo exhibition exploring the interplay between select Rhode Island architectural structures, the waterways they extend across, and the evolving public narratives surrounding these landmarks. Integrating archival materials, this new series of collages and screen prints invites the viewer to explore the interconnectivity of changing social perspectives and the reshaping of our natural landscape.

Sophie Foulkes is an illustrator and printmaker based in Providence, RI. Often described as narrative and playful, her work spans printmaking, editorial illustration, murals, and book design. Her fine art collages observational drawings with historic photographs and maps, evoking a sense of familiarity and connection. She received a BFA in Illustration from RISD in 2023. I think public spaces in general are so important. And the Library tends to cultivate a safe space, along with being a public space. So being an artist coming into that kind of space, I feel very secure being able to show my work, talk to the public . . . everyone just wants to learn and grow together. And that’s a really, really cool thing.
