Lo Que Trajimos – What We Brought With Us

Lo Que Trajimos – What We Brought With Us is an exhibition by Teen Creative Fellowship artist Adaliz Rivera, a high school junior, that explores personal and community stories connected to the Dominican residents of Providence.
Through research, hand built sculptural installations, sound, and storytelling, Adaliz honors Dominican culture, migration, memory, and the meaning of finding home. Each piece invites visitors to reflect on identity, belonging, and the stories we carry with us.
I think public spaces in general are so important. And the Library tends to cultivate a safe space, along with being a public space. So being an artist coming into that kind of space, I feel very secure being able to show my work, talk to the public . . . everyone just wants to learn and grow together. And that's a really, really cool thing.
