The AS220 Archives at PPL
The AS220 Archives at PPL documents AS220 - a Providence arts organization that has evolved organically since 1985 in response to community needs and, as a result, dramatically changed the landscape of the city.
Researchers will find evidence of complex cultural and creative production. The archives reflects the organization as well as output of artists, performers and musicians who have engaged with issues related to race, gender, sexuality, political and socioeconomic disparities, and urban development. The collection represents contemporary local history created by individuals often ignored in archives.

The AS220 Collection is organized and described because of a major Archival Projects grant from the National Historical Publications Records Commission (NHPRC) in 2017-2018. Ongoing efforts to digitize major portions of the collection are underway.
