I’ve been a firefighter for 22 years, but I’ve always had other interests, including art and science. I wouldn’t say I was ever into computers or technology. I feel like it was something that came after my generation. But, I guess I am kind of a geek…that’s what they call me at work. I am always interested in learning. So, the PPL’s Rhode Coders program came along at the perfect time for me! I was looking for something I could do in my next career and this was just what I needed. I think I would describe coding as being at the intersection of science, art and geekiness! And you don’t need to be a genius mathematician to be a coder.
I’m so thankful for these classes, and Don was a super teacher. This experience has helped put me on the right track for thinking about and taking the next steps in my life, maybe even getting into teaching myself.
