12/29/08 Suing Terrorists: Obtaining Justice for Terrorism Victims
A Discussion with David Strachman
Providence Public Library is pleased to welcome Providence attorney David J. Strachman to the Rochambeau Branch Library (708 Hope Street) on Monday, January 26 from 7:00 to 8:00 PM for a discussion about how victims of international terrorism have successfully fought terrorists such as the PLO and HAMAS, as well as state sponsors of terror such as Iran and Syria in U.S. courts.
Strachman is a Providence, Rhode Island, attorney noted for his representation of terror victims in civil suits against terror entities. He is a partner at McIntyre, Tate and Lynch in Providence and brought the first civil suit under the Anti Terrorism Act of 1990. He has litigated numerous cases against the PLO, Palestinian Authority, HAMAS, Iran, Syria and the PKK in Rhode Island, New York and Washington. He is an adjunct professor of law at Southern New England School of Law and the author of the recently published Civil Terrorism Law (Lawyers and Judges Publishing, 2008), the first book on civil terrorism litigation.
