PPL Central Library Offers Book Discussion Series in Conjunction with the 2008 URI Honors Colloquium

Providence Public Library is pleased to hold the following series of book discussions in conjunction with the 2008 URI Honors Colloquium entitled People and Planet -- Global Environmental Change, being conducted from September 9 through December 9.

Monday, September 22 (6:30 – 7:30 pm)
Field Notes from a Catastrophe: Man, Nature, and Climate Change by Elizabeth Kolbert

Monday, October 27 (6:30 – 7:30 pm)
Six Degrees: Our Future on a Hotter Planet by Mark Lynas

Common Wealth: Economics for a Crowded Planet by Jeffrey Sachs

2008 URI Honors Colloquium will explore human-caused global change

The public is invited to attend this series of free events September 9 – December 9.

Human activities are transforming the world at an extraordinary rate. The 2008 URI Honors Colloquium will explore human-caused global change, its consequences, and potential human responses through a series of lectures, films, and panel discussions.

Events take place on Tuesday evenings at 7:30 p.m. in Chafee Auditorium on URI’s main campus in Kingston. (Exceptions are noted in the schedule.)
