Family Learning Sundays are back at PPL Central Library this spring

Providence Public Library is pleased to present two new Family Learning Sundays programs at the Central Library, 150 Empire Street, Providence, this spring. These popular programs are made possible through a generous grant by the Masonic Grand Lodge Charities of Rhode Island in support of lifelong learning programs. Families are invited to participate in stories and songs, as well as educational hands-on experiences, as follows in April and May:

Sunday, April 19 -- Garden Stories & Workshop

Garden beginners are welcome, so come to the Library if you’ve never planted a seed or touched a worm....because this will be HANDS-ON workshop!

2:30 pm—Stories & Songs
3:00 pm—Workshop

Join Library staff for fun gardening stories and education staff from the Southside Community Land Trust and learn fun gardening tips for the whole family! We will read garden stories, learn how to start seeds inside, and examine one of our favorite garden friends....WORMS! Parents will learn creative, fun ways to garden with children, and children will get to take home a pot so they can grow a plant in their window.

Sunday, May 17 -- Animal Experiences with “Dave the Animal Man” Marchetti

Animal lovers wanted! Come and learn about some new and different animals and even get to touch them...this will be a true HANDS-ON time!

2:30 pm—Stories & Songs
3:00 pm—Workshop

Join library staff for fun animal stories and the “Animal Man” Dave Marchetti for some unforgettable Animal Experiences. Dave will give kids and families fun facts so they can appreciate and respect reptiles and small animals without being afraid of them. Learn which animals make good pets and which don’t and the reasons why, while also having the thrill of handling the animals. Nothing quite beats this hands-on experience!
