Summer Reading Program 2010

Summer ReadingMake a Splash @ Providence Public Library

June 28 - August 23

Providence Public Library is kicking off a brand new program -- FamilyREAD -- to encourage kids of all ages and their families to read, learn and have fun together during the summer months. Sign up for this program beginning June 28 at the Library or call 455-8025 to speak with our children's librarian.

A new twist on the popular Family Learning Sundays, FamilyREAD combines the success of the Library’s family-oriented participatory learning program with traditional summer reading activities. Children and families are encouraged to sign up and get a packet filled with everything they need to help achieve their summer reading goals. The packet includes a list of great books and suggestions for fun family activities around the Make a Splash summer reading theme, a journal, as well as an invitation to family programs at the Library during July and August. Prizes will be given to those who complete the program.

The Library will offer these free family fun programs:

July 20 - Award-winning magician Debbie O’Carroll

August 5 - JUMP! dancers

August 19 - Actress/singer Josefina Callender

August 23 - End of Summer Reading Party featuring folk music for the whole family with the crowd-pleasing sounds of Fox & Branch all the way from Wisconsin.
